Typically, A root canal can be treated in two easy steps, but each case is unique. The most common treatment option is Conventional Non-Surgical Endodontic Therapy (the root canal) . The Apicoectomy (endodontic surgery) and other procedures are supplemental to conventional treatment options.
CONSULTATION
Your Consultation is a diagnostic appointment during which we take diagnostic x-rays, discuss your medical history, and figure out the best treatment plan for you. We determine if treatment is necessary based on your symptoms and create a customized treatment plan to achieve optimal dental health. This appointment generally lasts about 30-45 minutes and can occur in conjunction with initiating endodontic therapy.
Endodontic Micro-Surgery (Apicoectomy)
In rare cases, it is necessary to perform surgery when inflammation or infection persists in the bony area around the end of your tooth after a root canal procedure. In this microsurgical procedure, we open the gum tissue near the tooth to see the underlying bone and to remove any inflamed or infected tissue. The very end of the root is also removed. A small filling may be placed to seal the end of the root canal and a few stitches or sutures are placed to help the tissue heal.
Conventional Endodontic Therapy
During, your root canal treatment, we carefully access and inspect the internal structures of your tooth and roots. We then remove the deteriorated and inflamed tissues from each root and, when necessary, treat with medication to promote healing. Some instances require two or more treatment visits to fully resolve your symptoms, but with our new GentleWave cleaning procedure, most root canal therapy can be performed in one visit. The root canal therapy is completed by filling the roots after successful resolution of symptoms. These appointments range from 45 minutes to 2 hours.Most cases require you to return to your General Dentist for a permanent crown.
FOLLOW UP
During these post-treatment appointments, we monitor healing after your endodontic thereapy is completed. This is part of our commitment to providing your ideal dental care.
FEES
The fee for your endodontic treatment will be based on the extent of treatment necessary. During your consultation visit we will discuss the probable number of visits, their length, and the fees involved. Endodontic fees usually range from $900 to $1,500. It is our policy that payment is made at the time of treatment.
We are pleased to offer CareCredit to our patients. CareCredit is a convenient, no initial payment, low monthly credit payment plan for dental treatment plans from $1,000 to $25,000.
Insurance
We do, as a service for our patients, submit insurance claims; however, treatment costs are ultimately the patient's responsibility.
